Some of you truly lack the empathy gene. This young man clearly struggled with addiction and even recent attempts at recovery didn’t work. He has a young son left behind as well as a family who tried their best to help him. For those that have never heard of One Direction, that doesn’t mean the quick rise to fame and fortune didn’t happen or that they weren’t a huge phenomenon in the 2012-16 time period. This should be just one more reminder of how tragic life can be when young people rise to fame quickly and have access to all sorts of drugs. It’s truly sad that even with a loving family he could not break free from addiction.
Two things can be true. He was a talented performer. He was also an addict who abused his former girlfriend. People want to make him a martyr, which is absolutely insane. Why do we give these entertainers athletes, etc. a pass? If this man had abused your sister, your daughter, your cousin, your best friend,You would very likely see this differently.
He blew up her phone while high - I don't really count that as being abusive. Annoying - yes, harrassing - sure. But I don't think using abusive as one general all encompassing term helps anyone. Also her father is a personal injury lawyer who has made millions from suing and sending cease and desist and whatever he can to make money. And he has done well - he spend 6 million dollars on Maya's quinceanera. I take it with a grain of salt when a personal injury lawyer sends out a cease and desist because he doesn't want his daughter's ex calling her phone. Not really abusive in my view. Was he obnoxious while on drugs - yes.
