I put gray tile on the floor of my kitchen, and combined with our white cabinets and gray/ white granite, our kitchen looks so sterile. I love white kitchens but they need warm wood floors. I let my contractor convince me that wood would be too difficult. And this is IMPOSSIBLE to fix without tearing out the entire kitchen, so, it will never happen. I put down rugs all over it but it still doesn't really fix the problem to me. 5 years later and I'm still not over it. We're going to sell the house in the next 2 years or I'd seriously consider re doing it.
On the flip side, my contractor convinced me that tile was a bad idea for our powder room vs just continuing the wood floors into them and let's just say there's a reason tile is better in bathrooms, especially with boys.
Agreed. I have a small open plan 1st floor and didn't want it to look broken up. However, hardwood is dumb for heavily used kitchens and powder rooms. We have slight gaps between our planks that don't look bad but will never come clean.
