No, nobody was wearing that in 1980.[/quote] The picture posted was just an example. 1980-1982 for all intents and purposes was still the 1970s.[/quote] No. I graduated from HS in 1980 in "fly over country" and by my senior year everyone was wearing straight leg jeans, cotton Lacoste shirts and penny loafers. Bell bottom jeans were still in for my 8th grade year, but a polyester jump suit or leisure suit would have gotten you laughed out school even back then. "Designer jeans" were the thing -- Gloria Vanderbilt jeans were introduced in 1976 and Calvin Klein jeans were introduced in 1978. The "Preppy Handbook" came out in 1980, but it really just latching onto an existing trend.[/quote]
