Due to medications and having an exhausting life, I rarely drink. If I wasn't dealing with chronic illness and severe depression, I'd be in drinking a lot more. I envy people who are out having a great time this summer. Who are healthy and can actually live life.
I’m just a busy dad and I don’t have time to drink. If I have time to sit down and sip something cold - I usually desperately need some water. Also, I’m healthy and can’t stand the idea of wasting my summer days being drunk. Go for a bike ride or a hike you drunk f*cks.
This is a strange take. Most people drink at night, if they drink. Plenty of time to hike or bike during the day, then have a delicious cocktail or glass of wine in the evening.
If I've been hiking, I want water. If I'm going hiking tomorrow, I don't want anything resembling a hangover. When you're heading up a mountain there isn't a worse feeling than indigestion, a headache, etc. I love certain cocktails, but not more than alot of other things I might be doing on a Saturday night. I just can't be bothered to make one. I've had great wine, but it just feels like more trouble than its worth to track down a good one and the bottle inevitably sits around for ages.
The best tasting beers I ever have are after a long bike ride or skiing. I’ll drink water then too, but beer just really scratches an itch after those (not running or swimming though, so it’s not all aerobic activities).
+1 Actually the best meal on the planet is after a mountaineering trip where you got up at 4 am and return at 5 pm exhausted. Then head to the local burger joint for a fatty burger and fries - I'm a wine person, but my friends will have a beer. Either way, it's SO GOOD!!! Then I sleep like a baby at 8 pm and am up early for another adventure or work or whatever.
Totally, on the food, but the beer does nothing for me. Just makes me burp. I’d rather have something with ice. Guess you’re just built different.
