I think some men really like the feeling of being with a much smaller woman, because it makes them feel big and powerful. I also think some women like feeling small and, it must be said, powerless next to a big man. This is based on my experience dating men 6' and up before marrying my husband (who is 5'9"). Some of those guys were way too invested in how petite I am, in a way that grossed me out. I vastly prefer being with someone who feels more like (and wants to be) my equal. So yes, when I see those couples where he's super tall and she's really short, I do kind of assume it's a mutual fetish based on the power dynamics of that, and it gives me the icks.
This is one of the more depressing posts that I have read on DCUM. I am sorry that the PP has a very skeptical view of humans. I have a son (age 21) who is very tall (almost 6'6"). He is a very nice person and not trying to impose some power dynamic on a girl. In terms of getting married in the future, he has mentioned that it might be ideal if he one-day marries a shorter woman, as it would be beneficial to have their kids have the potential to be of average height. In contrast, if he were to marry a tall girl, then their children would likely be too tall. If you are a tall person (taller than 6'2"), you know that there can be problems (such as finding clothing, finding shoes, hitting your head on things, sitting on an airplane). These are real things that tall people encounter. It is just easier to be within a more typical range of height.
