Not numb, just given up. You want a Trump, you can have him and all that comes with it for the next four years. We get the government we deserve.
So none of this affects you? Good for you, I guess.
No. I did not like Trump, but nothing bad happened to me in 4 years. In fact, our lives were slightly better than it is during Biden presidency, even though we voted for Biden.
I'd like to remind everyone that Jan 6 wasn't just a random day. It was the day our votes were being counted in Congress. Trump had a plan that required Pence to delay the count so Trump could stay President. The only reason it didn't work is that one man, Pence, refused. Bottomline for me is that Trump has shown he doesn't respect the Constitution.
Grassley was all lined up to do the certification once Pence was whisked away, a fact that the collective memory doesn’t seem to recall at all. It was not a peaceful demonstration, Trump knew they were armed and had more waiting and he didn’t care, they weren’t “there for him.” Were it not for Eugene Goodman luring the insurrectionists away from the chamber, that day would have had a very different outcome. I think perhaps part of OP’s feeling of numbness is that we saw our country almost slip away from us and those who still prize their identity as Republicans first, Americans second have spent the last three years telling us that what we watched on television wasn’t bad at all. We can all read Project 2025 and see what the GOP’s plans are if they win, but the Republicans on here say it’s great, they applaud it. American skates on a knife edge entirely of the making of one political party.
