Kids lie. "Full ride sports scholarship" is a brag---sounds much better than, "we qualified for fin aid or got some merit." Years ago I worked in a fin aid office at a DIII school in another state. We awarded need-based fin aid grants and loans, AND merit as determined by the admissions office. Some parent called and gave me an earful about their kid's "low" package, compared to Billy from their high school who was getting a huge BASEBALL scholarship. While I could not talk about any other student's award to this parent, I confirmed to parent that DIII schools were not permitted to award sports scholarships.... [/quote]
