This is the infamous “baking cookies” and “Tammy Wynette” remark. Bill looks like he instantly regrets this and knows it might cost him the election https://youtu.be/8EGranwN_uk?si=yHmA8g_K3Yr7ABZ5
I don't understand why she felt the need to insult Tammy Wynette for no reason. Especially when she (Hillary) in fact did stand by her man then, and continued to do so later.
That is a good point. Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette helped bring a woman's perspective to the male-dominated country music field that helped other women find representation in the genre. At the beginning of her career, no one wanted to hire Tammy to sing because the country music industry was dominated by men. When asked during a 60 Minutes interview about her marriage to then-presidential candidate Bill Clinton (who had been accused of infidelity), Hillary Clinton said, "I'm not sitting here as some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette". The end of this quotation has also appeared as "some little woman, standing by my man and baking cookies, like Tammy Wynette." However, the reference to cookie-baking more likely comes from an unrelated remark by Hillary Clinton: "I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession, which I entered before my husband was in public life.” The remark received widespread media and press attention. Wynette wrote to Clinton, saying, "With all that is in me, I resent your caustic remark. I believe you have offended every true country-music fan and every person who has made it on their own with no one to take them to the White House." Hillary then remarked to the press that she had no intention of speaking negatively about Wynette and that she enjoyed Wynette's music. She then personally called Wynette and apologized to her. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tammy_Wynette Tammy was correct; HRC would not have had her illustrious career without Bill taking her to the WH.
If you know anything about their story, then you would know that HC took Bill to the WH.
Enlighten us.
They can’t enlighten . If anything Hillary’s infamous “I’m not some little woman Standing by my man like Tammy Wynette” interview with the fake country twang was a PR disaster and almost cost Bill election. Bill had to kiss many babies and hit the stump even harder to make up for that remark along with the “sit home and bake cookies all day” comment
Bill was the star, not HRC. Bill was the politician. HRC couldn’t campaign her way out of a wet paper bag. Remember when Bill was giving her advice during her presidential campaign and she refused to listen (what would he know? He had only won 2 presidential elections!) and he threw his phone off the roof? HRC would be nothing without Bill. He was the mechanism for all her “accomplishments.” She went after a working class trailblazing female country singer and trashes her for not being a professional or something, and baking cookies? Remind me again that HRC is for the regular American and a feminist, balderdash.
