The house is her property and she is paying mortgage on it. She needs to start eviction and put the house for sale. If he damages it, the house might be worth less than the mortgage, in which case she will be ruined financially. An apartment is an escape, but she would essentially pay for a mortgage and a rent. Why?

OP, contact one of the ARCs, and get legal advice. If something happens with the house and you have to declare bancruptcy your life will be very negatively affected for years.
