Because according to the 12th Amendment, the President and Vice President cannot both be residents of the same state. This amendment stipulates that electors must cast distinct votes for President and Vice President, and they cannot choose both candidates from their own state. So they would have to forgo Florida’s electoral votes that Trump would presumably win.[/quote]
