It's not low-class in the south to have a normal given name like Anna or Alice as long as it is time-tested. It's low-class to have a trendy given name that is someone else's last name, like Emerson or Kennedy. There are more American girls with those names as first names than there are people in the world with those names as last names, LOL.

I am very familiar with rich southerner naming convention of stringing together a bunch of last names and calling it a day. While that does persist, it is perceived as overly pretentious, so you see lots of rich people just going with classic names like Anna and Alice to not draw attention. [/quote]
