Again, I’m only academically interested in the topic, and how it plays out when intelligent discussion is eclipsed by shrill red tribe versus blue tribe emotionality.  I’m a registered Democrat, don’t own any long arms, and have one VERY old (100+ year old) .38 special revolver that was passed down, and probably hasn’t been shot in 30 years.

There aren’t any Sandy Hook families here, but if there were I would tell them that I’ll never be a proponent of loser proposals pushed by people who don’t care to educate themselves on the specifics of the matter, or proposals that don’t pass a basic cost/benefit analysis. I would be sympathetic to their loss in the same way I’d be sympathetic to the much larger number of families who lose a loved one to autoerotic asphyxiation every year, but if an Republican politician proposed “autoeroticism control”, I would deride their irrationality too.
