Cheat sheet for Virginia results: [twitter]https://twitter.com/redistrict/status/1722035219329323376?s=46&t=kf1qYlCXQnKgUhJWEIu2vg[/twitter]
It would be GREAT if tonight ended up as a rebuke of Youngkin.
He staked his political future on the outcomes of tonight. He’s done. What a swing and a miss. Between this and his embarrassing comment that the midterms would “send a message” to Biden it’s plainly obvious he doesn’t have his finger on the pulse of the electorate. Clearly the fearmongering about crime and trannies failed. What phantom menace will Republicans try to scare voters about in 2024?
I'm not a Youngkin fan, but if he wants a political future I think he still has one - but Trump has to lose the '24 election for it to be a possibility. Youngkin can walk away for a couple of years and then reappear as a conservative stalwart in the mode of conservatism prior to Trump's entry on the scene. He can also seek to be more moderate in VA his remaining time in office. I'd argue that Youngkin is not in a terrible place politically if his ultimate goal is higher office in '28 or beyond.
Nope. The 15 week promise killed his chances on the national stage.
