You think mink is “moderate”? She’s posted about defunding the police, used to criticize Israel for retaliating against Hamas
Her worst offense was saying that African and Arab immigrant parents who don't want their kids taught leftist gender ideology were "aligned with white supremacy." That's one of the most woke and insane things anyone has ever said.
That was bad but it wasn’t woke. It was racist.
It's clearly both. Wokes are often racist. A great book to read on the topic is, coincidentally, "Woke Racism" by John McWhorter. JM lays out how wokes are no longer liberal and resemble religious fundamentalists. I highly recommend it.
Did you actually read it, though? Because John McWhorter is a linguist, and while he certainly does use "woke" as an adjective, I can't find any example of him using "woke" or "wokes" as a noun.
Of course I read it. So would not have recommended it otherwise. While McWhorter doesn't use woke as a noun, he coined a term "the elect" but it didn't stick because it just doesn't have the same bite as woke. The reason should be obvious, because wokes used to describe themselves as woke until it became a pejorative. And is your argument really that I might not have read the book because I took poetic license and used the word as a different part of speech than McWhorter? Come on man. If you prefer I can use it as an adjective as in woke lunatic. Do you like that better?
"poetic license"
