Dc area kids are more southern than northeastern at heart (unless they are Jewish or Asian)

I can totally see the median dc kid just liking SEC or sec adjacent schools to nescac.

They may not be comfortable with the support for guns and Trump (let alone the Confederate flag). They may miss lots of healthy food options. Surrounding communities may be less tolerant of diversity, both racial and LGBTQ+. Read some survey results if you are not aware of the cultural differences that exist  between different regions of the US. It has nothing to do with being snobby or "classy." It has to do with being progressive and tolerant (which overlap a lot with warm, kind and educated).[/quote]
