Here's what I learned about Starr and where MCPS is heading. http://www.gtamc.org/Home/announcements-1/aboutdrjoshuastarr http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Blogs/Education-Matters/March-April-2011/Starr-and-Weast-Cut-From-the-Same-Mold/ http://www.gse.harvard.edu/academics/doctorate/edd/alumni/profiles/starr.html http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/info/pdf/Starr%20Contract%20Final%2051011.pdf Make up your own mind.
I notice the desire to pigeonhole posters by labeling them as libertarians or conservatives. The intolerance is breathtakingly sad. I see no reason for the OP to read the details of Starr's contract and his history to decide the direction in which MCPS is heading. Frankly, I took the popemobile comment as sarcasm. I am appalled that DCUM poster are intent on discouraging those who advocate informed choice. Let the OP decide if the new Curriculum 2 is good for her children. Let OP decide if the elimination of advanced classes in middle school is good for her. Let OP read and decide. Why do we want to discourage informed choice? MOCO is not full of name calling liberals. There are those of us who care about each other and respect diverse opinions. MOCO has some good people.
