I grew up in western NY (Rochester area) and we certainly didn’t have them. In newer (post-70s) suburban housing developments with larger lots, people often put in an (commonly above ground) pool in their backyard. I think it’s pretty hard to construct new pools these days in densely populated areas, due to space, cost, and liability issues.[/quote]
