More white/beige/cream. What is happening with the train? It looks like someone put it in a ponytail holder to keep it together. She always looks really beautiful on the red carpet to me but also dour. I think it's because she avoids smiling due to her teeth. I don't think she's self-conscious -- she could of course choose to fix them and chooses not to. But I think it's a conscious choice from her style team to preserve a certain image for the red carpet (she embraces the wonky teeth for roles). I think it was fully a career move -- sometimes perfect is boring, plus there are a million perfect-looking actresses in Hollywood. Her family background gets her access and opportunities, but her more off-beat looks make her stand out a lot more than Kate. There's a reason Rooney's at the Oscars and in a nominated film and her sister is not.
These are all very good points but she would have had to have known she wanted to be a serious actress when she was like 10 to forestall any teeth fixing. Crazy.
If you grow up a Mara, it's entirely likely that if you express an interest in acting at 10 years old, you will meet with an high end talent agent and a big shot producer friend, and they will tell your parents "don't fix her teeth -- they make her look interesting and you don't want to smooth her out too much if she's serious about this." Not saying this happened, but it could have. She didn't grow up in Des Moines and move to the big city at 19 to shoot her shot.
