No.  The CORRECT answer is not "have empathy", the CORRECT answer is that it is NOT acceptable, whether it happens to them, or whether they do it to me or anyone else.  Inflicting abuses on others because you had them inflicted on you only further propagates a cycle of abuse rather than actually dealing with it.[/quote]
