But that's exactly the age when schizophrenia hits - especially in males.  Especially if there is family history (you say "no prior" which I assume is the student).  You can't expect colleges to manage everything. You would expect colleges to do a little more with all the practice they’ve had with the serious mental illnesses, no? Really the schools do nothing until it’s way too late to correct course.

A small but important point—several mental illnesses the patient has no idea they’re sick. None. They are not avoiding it. The sick person doesn’t know! Americans would be a little more understanding of someone with age-related dementia, a stroke, or a brain injury. Mental illness is seen as a “lack of effort”[/quote]
