She doesn't need to be this conservative. She is the Princess of Wales. Diana had a lot of striking looks as Princess of Wales. Her job includes getting people excited about Britain, and her clothing (because she speaks so little) is her primary way of doing that. These clothes aren't doing the job.[/quote]

Diana never appeared in mourning.  Kate and her husband are still observing a period of mourning.  There are rules, yes, rules!!!, about attire for when you're a member of the royal household and you are in mourning.  Kate and her dressers are observing them.  Give it a rest.[/quote]
