Also she isn’t alone. By all accounts she has a fairly large friend group, which includes her ex-husband.

She lives alone with dogs.

Maybe that’s what she wants.

I would be lonely. Friends aren’t the same as a spouse and kids.

I have a spouse and kids but could still wind up alone with my dogs in my 50s. My kids are growing up and will leave. My FIL died suddenly at 58.

Feel sorry for her if you want but learning to be content on your own, and to develop social bonds outside your immediate family, is a valuable skill we should all cultivate. It’s not going to be you and your DH and the kids gathered close around you forever, most likely.[/quote]
