Because I think a lot of clues point to this being a foreign intelligence honey trap/blackmail operation, and I don't want them to win. It limits the damage to us, as a country, if we don't have a ton of politicians and high level people taken out by this. Look at Prince Andrew and the damage to the BRF.  I'm not at all defending any aspect of their behavior. I'm saying I don't want other countries to get an advantage over us because of these morons.
