I remember how my mom would force me to wear bikinis in elementary school even though I didn’t want to and felt uncomfortable. Please make sure your daughter feels comfortable in whatever swimwear she wears. I still recall the uncomfortableness of essentially being sexualized at a young age.
As a mom of 3 girls (2 are now adults, one is 7) I agree. I always have/had my girls have imput on what swimwear to wear. The older girls loved the Lands End tankinis, those are 2 piece with the tank top. My little one chose a one piece long-sleeve zip up this year. We live in FL so the more sun coverage the better anyways. As young adults, the older girls choose a variety of swimwear. One like bikinis but also has a rashguard (because, FL) and the other likes the high waist modest bikinis. My concern about skimpy swimwear for little ones is sun exposure. There are so many cute 2 piece suits that have a rashguard top, right at Target and Walmart.
