I'm in Del Ray and the house two down from me is an old black couple whose 7 grandkids live in PG with their respective single moms but they all commit residency fraud and attend ACPS. How's that for diversity? Black and criminal!
What moron commits fraud to get IN to ACPS? 99% of students are doing tit the other way around.
It’s amazing how this false trope perpetuates itself on here. While the great school ratings are highly flawed, take a look at the breakdown of the ACPS rankings by ethnicity breakdown. You will see 9 or 10/10 rankings when it’s stratified that way. The kids that unfortunately don’t do as well are those that are likely not raised in native English-speaking households. They’d unfortunately have trouble at most schools. To the credit of the local school system,, one of the elementary schools actually has a dual immersion program so the Spanish-speaking kids can help the English speaking kids learn Spanish and vice versa. Parents love it. I tend to think of a ACPs as on par with the NWDC and SS public schools. Highly diverse with several unique programs. Perfect? No. But a kid who is semi-motivated and/or with involved parents will likely do quite well.
