The suicide rate for that age group is about 14 per 100,000 per year, which would put the expected number of suicides for a college of even 10,000 at 1.4 for an entire calendar year. But an academic year is less than 9 months, or 3/4 of a year. So, you might expect 1 suicide in an academic year, not 4 or 5. That number in a college that size in one academic year is very high.[/quote]
