I love the post about the Authentic Travel Olympics. Remember the thread about DCUM archetypes? Authentic Travel Olympian is definitely one of them. This forum has some great advice but there are also a few subgroups that are just not operating on the same plane as the rest of us—just mention Iceland and it’s triggering for a bunch of them! Then there are the posters if it’s not a Rosewood or similar, why even bother?
I liked the post too, and I'm the one who's ridden the chicken buses all over Central America ha ha.
NP. You are every bit as deranged and pathetic as the Marriott Gold poster. I don’t think you understood the travel olympics post at all. In fact you bragged about how no one could outdo you in Spanish or international travel or living, particularly in Latin America. You come across as arrogant, out of touch and just generally smug. And chicken bus is offensive. Please be open to learning/evolving and remember there are plenty of terms once common that are no longer considered appropriate.
New Poster? Ha! That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. Do better, MG! :D
PP here, and that wasn’t me. Surprised another poster finds you bigoted and obnoxious? I’m not. Anyway, enjoy your snow day and hi from the Mediterranean. But I’ll warn ya, yesterday while I was walking in town, I did see some trash spilling from a dumpster, some stray cats wandering around, and a beach with an unacceptably high pebble to sand ratio. So I guess based on your criteria for acceptable destinations, OP and her mother should also avoid Malta. Am I right mi querida reina de los pollos?
No, I actually like Malta very much. We had a great time there. We even did something totally cheesy -- the "Game of Thrones" tour. A local student drove us from shooting location to shooting location all over the island and showed us video clips of scenes from the show while we stood in the same exact spot as the actors. Not something that we'd typically do, but we did love the show and had plenty of time on our hands -- that was a six week trip, I think -- so it ended up being a real hoot. I'd recommend it! As I said, you're not going to "out travel" me. Next?
PP here. Oh boy! “Out travel” you? What on earth are you talking about? Why in the world would I be surprised that you (or any other American for that matter) had been to a pedestrian and mainstream destination like Malta? I merely mentioned I was here. Not sure why this is a competition for you, but again, it’s pretty clear you’re the Travel Olympiad the other poster mentioned. And of course you did the GOT tour when you were here! Of course you did. Because that’s the most suburban American excursion on offer. I bet you did the tour in Croatia too, didn’t you? Plus, six weeks in Europe is hardly brag worthy. Just saying. If I’m being honest, I kinda hope you don’t stop with this. You have given our family some truly “hearty laughs” at the end of the day!!
Ha ha so you've gone from dropping Malta to try and sound cool to writing it off as pedestrian when you found out I was there. Got it! At least I didn't have to go in January when the prices are lower because the weather sucks. Some of us can afford better. LOL.
Oh darling. I never thought or said that Malta was impressive. That was you, followed by “you’re not going to ‘out travel’ me” (which tbh my 10 year already has done I’m sure!). We live in Europe now, and it’s a quick, easy and cheap Ryanair flight for us. We choose a different destination each month, it’s not big deal. And sorry to break it you if you don’t know, but summer Euro travel is the pits, especially in places like Spain, Portugal, Malta, and Greece. SO crowded. If that’s when you did your Game of Thrones your, I truly feel sorry for you. We usually retreat to Scandinavia during that time, and no I don’t mean Copenhagen. Try harder mi querida gallina vieja!! Anything else you’d like to share hermana?
Your European glamour life clearly ain't what you're painting it out to be considering you have the time and inclination to return to DCUM time and again when you don't even live here to (badly) troll a stranger. I guess you miss living here.
