Whether FCV, Barca, LFC and whoever uses that space like it or not this is a big power move that will unequivocally translate to the extinction of these clubs in this area. It’s basic science.
Those clubs are niche clubs. VRSC might swallow them up/make their programs untenable, but they are here to compete with Loudoun Soccer. VRSC, without Evergreen, had already easily surpassed LFC as a club and a good argument could be made that they already surpassed FCV, since VRSC has a full boys program and more total teams in Loudoun. VRSC now has a better facility than Loudoun Soccer, so why shouldn’t their goal be to challenge Loudoun Soccer to be the biggest club in Loudoun?
This is pretty much what I just said above. Not only that but Revolution hired coaches away from both FCV as well as Loudoun. that will continue to happen as they grow but targeting top Loudoun coaches from here on out. Both Revolution and Loudoun Soccer will be in a heated race to gobble up any remaining County turf fields pushing FCV to unlit grass fields. FCV United practicing a Bles without the option for lights will kill that program off in short order. Evergreen was the last club agnostic non county complex in Loudoun. FCV's for profit status puts them at a significant competitive disadvantage for county fields space. FCV knew this was coming and this why the Villarreal "merger" happened. FCV no longer controls its own destiny beyond one very expensive field in the St. James. They will be surrounded by ECNL clubs in Springfield while competing in a new inferior league. Their player pool via VIVA will be poor and knowing all of this ECNL clubs will not throw FCV a life preserver. The best Loudoun players will now go to Loudoun, VDA or McLean for ECNL, primarily Loudoun and they will no longer give FCV a second thought. We'll find out this spring how many TSJ bags are on ECNL sideline tryouts. I predict many, starting with kids who don't start.
