I don't know how Emory or Georgetown got into the conversation but PP is right. They are better schools than Tufts, even with Tufts high stats I'm positive Tufts grads don't do better than Emory and Georgetown grads.
Tufts is perceived by many as an enviable, high-profile alternative for students that are not Ivy League material but want some level of bragging rights. Nevertheless, Tufts is an excellent school but no better and maybe worse than Georgetown and Emory. What is your choice other than Tufts, if you are a mere mortal academically and want to be in the Boston area?
I think GT and even Emory are Cornell level schools. I know a few at Cornell that couldn't get into these two schools and vise versa. When people say Ivy league material they forget Cornell and Brown are Ivys.
+1
As a Cornell alum I’ll be the first to say Cornell and Brown are not peers - maybe Cornell and UPenn is more like it, but Brown is at a higher ivy level. And in terms of Tufts, it is common for applicants to be looking at and choosing between Cornell and Tufts. Very common…
Not a Cornell alum and I can confidently say Cornell is at a higher caliber than GT, Emory, and Tufts.
It's not, Tufts yes. GT and Emory...no. Rankings like like this with med school placement that put Emory at 17 and Cornell at 25, or put GTown at 5 for wall street placement. Cornell isn't able to compete with Emory for premed and GT for business.
You think Cornell can’t compete with Emory because of some subjective ranking that had them 8 places apart? Really?
It's not subjective they used admissions and LinkedIn data to figure out which undergrads were better feeder schools. If Cornell's ivy label meant its so good then it shouldn't be struggling to beat Emory (or WashU, Or Rice, etc.). You also ignored that fact that Gtown has much better wall street placement than Cornell. I never said Emory and GT were better than Cornell, I said they were peers. Emory and GT do some things better Cornell does some things better, and there all ranked similarly.
