Because the 13th Amendment took effect on December 18, and that's an impractical date to have a federal holiday.

Good point. I felt really low key about July 4th ever since kneeling before the flag became a thing. I really with Colin K had found a different vehicle for protest. It sucked a lot of life out of Americana.[/quote]
