Yes, this is ludicrous. He was a successful musician and producer in his own right. VERY successful. He certainly didn't have to "take" her money.

Maybe she was implying that he was controlling?

I think it's quite possible that she just invested all of her money in this marriage/kids, without really paying attention what's "hers" (super-model money). She felt secure/safe and he was probably in-charge. Laid back people like this usually assume everyone else is like them, especially their partners that they know so well. It was really a dick move on his part. He left 2 women with his children. He left his previous wife for a 19 year old! And before dying decided to punish someone?? C'mon now!
It was this. She recently did a series with UBS called, "Own your worth" where she talks about financial fluency and the need to take care of your own finances for your future. Basically, she started working as a young teen and always just handed over her money to her agent and then to a money manager. She married at 19 and her money just went to her husband and his money people. Sounds like she basically had a credit card someone else paid and never thought about money for years and years, assuming it was all taken care of by her husband and his people. He really did screw her. She was pulling in millions and millions a year for much of their marriage, she shouldn't have been left out to dry. Even in a divorce without working, she would have been entitled to money over the course of the marriage. In 7 years this lady made 42 million dollars from ONE contract alone and that was by far not her only work. Where is the money?
she should have been entitled to a spousal share after his death too.
