Clarence Thomas is another example.  He went to an ivy I believe - before affirmative action.  Yet, most discount this great jurist assuming he is where he is because of affirmative action. I am an URM, you idiot. We exist outside of the hood, you know. People think Clarence Thomas isn’t a good justice because he never speaks in arguments and rarely authors opinions.  Perhaps he is, as you say, a great jurist, but who would ever know?  Carson, on the other hand, has achieved results in surgery that were thought to be impossible.
