Here's what you should know. It really doesn't matter much. All my kids took Algebra in 8th grade (2 took honors and 2 regular). All started French 1 in 8th grade. Guess what - those are the only 2 middle school classes that count for college and ANYONE can take them in 8th grade, whether or not they were in AAP. Colleges do not know or care in your kid was in AAP. 
Once your kid is in high school, they can take ANY CLASS they want.
Two of my kids got into UVA, (one had been AAP, one not). Two got into William and Mary, (one had been AAP and one not).

Life is short. Enjoy your kids while they are young and home. You will miss them when they move away. Try not to freak out too much about AAP. If you have a smart and motivated kid, they will rise to the top in high school and be ok. Just my two cents. Have a great day.[/quote]
