^^ this. Parents are getting it but “have no idea” how. It’s probably their asymptomatic kids (who probably get it from teachers). The health department doesn’t report it so we don’t know. I mean the parents can figure it out but the public doesn’t know unless the kids test positive, and there’s no requirement to test, just quarantine. So who knows. The picture is pretty murky.
No, no, no. You've got it wrong. If a parent tests positive, the ENTIRE family gets tested. They don't "just quarantine." If the kid then tests positive, the parent reports it to the school and the school numbers go up.
A lot of parents are not reporting because they don’t want numbers to go up. Or 3/5 family members are confirmed positive and the other two develop the same symptoms so it’s presumed positive but since they’re all sick and need to quarantine they treat without bothering to test.
And this is the smart way to proceed. No fu&k way in hellllllllll am I getting a test, nor is anyone in my family if we think we have covid. However I've gone 4xs to the free testing to help boost the negatives. If we do think we are positive will wait a month and then get an antibody test.
Ok have fun with that
