I find the overall argument ridiculous. Teachers aren't just in charge of lecturing. Schools are there to engage and teach students skills beyond just reading and writing, but how to be a student, focus on tasks, take responsibility, etc. They're clearly not able to do that virtually.
Teacher here. How do you know they're "clearly" not able to do that virtually? And how on earth could you lump all together?
NP here. Are you delusional? This is such a silly question to even ask. The kids used to spend 5-8 hours in school, absorbing not just academic but social-emotional skills. And you should know this, but let me remind you again since you seem to have forgotten how stuff works - the kids don't just learn from instruction, but more from interactions and watching others. Now they have a screen with a teacher talking from one end and this is for 2-3 hours max in a day. How are these even comparable? Fine..make excuses and don't come to work, but how on earth can you say that kids are able to do everything virtually as they would have in in-person school?
