So DCPS leadership and the mayor are at war with all the teachers and principals. There is no way this will end well. Dumb ass move by the mayor and chancellor. Thanks for creating this huge mess.
Alternatively, blame the unions.
I'm happy to blame everyone, but this particular dumb plan was drummed up by DCPS so at the moment my ire rests with them. They could easily have come up with other solutions to put on the table.
You would complain about all the other solutions too.
PP here and I am a new poster. No plan would be perfect, but this one is majorly flawed mostly because DCPS didn't take the time to figure out what the staffing situation was they were working with. They should have rolled out a pilot program in a few schools-- even a hybrid one-- and then adjusted from there, all while really getting good data about staffing and hiring.
they couldn’t figure it out because WTU literally got the courts to block them from using the staffing survey.
This is the weirdest take. DCPS broke the law. WTU has a duty to represent its members. I don’t even know why I come here any more for DCPS news. It just depresses me.
How is it a weird take? The unions and their supporters are claiming ad nauseum that “DCPS is not talking to teachers” and complaining about not having staffing assignments. WTU may have had the right to file that lawsuit — but the blame for DCPS not having access to teacher availability data falls directly on the WTU for filing that lawsuit. There’s no rule that every single possible issue must be litigated.
NP here. I don’t even know what you are saying. Clearly a judge sided with the WTU. Yet in your mind DCPS is an angel and WTU is the devil. What does that make the judge? I don’t know all the details but given the judge sided with the WTU, the case had merit. I’m not sure how you can blame the WTU for this outcome. Also clearly all the principals are mad with DCPS Central and they don’t even belong to the WTU. Many central office staff are upset as well and they have no connection with the WTU. The only common link I see is DCPS leadership.
