In person, my DC's teacher handled this exact situation in our DC private delicately in 1st grade and a little in 2nd grade. In person. She could not do this remotely. She also did not neglect the advanced readers while supporting the emerging reader.

I wonder if you are a younger teacher, PP. You are grossly underestimating the abilities of in-person teachers at privates in our area. What the good ones do will not translate online. Only strong students who do not need a live teacher to learn benefit from DL. That is only a few of them.[/quote]
