Why do parents fight among one another and blame each other for Wilson’s problems instead of holding central office and the Wilson administration accountable? For all the money DCPS spends, they have not been able to improve the high school situation even a tiny bit. Is all the talk about equity even doing anything for kids at Anacostia and Ballou in terms of education? Wilson gets ignored by DC for what purpose? Anacostia HS is less than 250 kids. Ballou is about 550 kids. Given its size, Wilson probably has more kids coming from difficult backgrounds than both Anacostia and Ballou combined. Yet Wilson is overlooked and ignored because it is considered a school for wealthy families only. Really sad and depressing situation.
HAHA I can guarantee they have less at-risk kids than Anascotia or Ballou. What a crazy statement.
You are misinformed. Anacostia has less than 250 students total.
Wilson has 1895 students, 22 percent are considered at-risk, so about 417. Source: https://www.dcschoolreportcard.org/schools/1-0463 Anacostia has 392 students, 81 percent are considered at-risk, so about 317. https://www.dcschoolreportcard.org/schools/1-0450/profile Ballou has 746 students, 79 percent at-risk, so about 589. https://www.dcschoolreportcard.org/schools/1-0452/profile So no, Wilson does not have more at-risk kids than Anacostia and Ballou combined (it does, however, have more at-risk kids than Anacostia has total students). But minimizing the significant number of at-risk kids at Wilson to prove a point also is pretty shameful.
