Right. The biggest problem with reopening before a vaccine or effective treatment is lack of sufficient contact tracing. I know we are trying to set up contact tracing, but it’s virtually impossible to do it effectively at this point in a pandemic.

Now, I think we have to reopen before a vaccine or treatment because the economic impact of not doing so will be absolutely devastating (even more than now). But, while we can surge hospital capacity, testing, and PPE, we can’t stop the inevitable spike in cases that will happen when we reopen without really good contact tracing.

So we just have to hope that the PPE and surge capacity we have will be sufficient. That’s also why it’s really important for people to be careful and continue to take precautions.[/quote]
