I'm a dog owner and mom. This is what I do: 1) I don't let the dog lick / jump on kids / people. She loves kids because of our sons and their friends but I don't know if the kids are scared, allergic etc so I keep her leash tight when we pass people. 2) She poops and pees on the grass strip next to the street and not in people's yards. We trained her this way and she doesn't poop on the sidewalk pavement either. 3) I clean all the poop. I sometimes ripoff some of the grass, to make sure there's no poop left, so if someone is parking on the curb and is walking in the grass, (s)he doesn't stop into poop and drags it inside. 4) I take the poop bags home and dispose it in my trash, not in random people's trash can or recycling bins, and I'm not leaving the poop bags in people's yards, at intersections, on the sidewalks.
This is what I do too. I have two dogs, but I always have extra poop bags when we go out, because you just don't know. I always try to get them to urinate on our property when we start the walk. I try to have them poop in a mulched area of a traffic circle on our street, rather than any grassy common area where kids might play. No matter where they poop, whether it is on our property or in a common area, I clean it up right away, as leaving poop is not good for the environment. The only thing I might do on occasion if we are going for a longer walk and my hands are full of poop bags, is leave them out of sight behind a tree in an unused common area and pick them up on my way back. I'm sure that some may take issue, but I have had a few instances when I was on a longer walk and a used bag fell out of my hand and I didn't realize it until later. When that happened, I wound up driving back to find it, but I would prefer not to do that.
