This is the nightmare - the entire family sick, unclear if they are all hospitalized or if some need to fend for themselves while sick at home. The neighbor drove the dad to the hospital and caught it. So much for hoping neighbors will help out going forward...[/quote]

That REALLY contagious if the driver caught from him in a short car trip, isn't it? I mean, my dh had the flu last year, and we slept in the same bed, shared a kitchen,  etc, and I didn't get it. Neither did our 7yo. Taxi and Uber drivers take sick people around every day. What is the deal? [/quote]

You could have gotten a very mild or asymptomatic case of the flu.  And driving someone to the hospital (maybe not such a short drive in Westchester) who is extremely sick and coughing is actually pretty high-risk contact.  [/quote]

New Rochelle to Lawrence Hospital is probably about a 15-20 minute drive.  But it’s possible the neighbor is part of the same synagogue and may have had additional exposure to him.  [/quote]
