I think that's a racist thing to say.  I do think that there are cultural components to how much "flash" people like in their clothes.  In my experience, Latina and AA women like a little more color and spark, more makeup and more done hair, as do Middle Eastern women.  But there's even cultural distinctions within white Americans -- Southern women and women from Texas definitely like more color and more makeup than women from New England or the Pacific Northwest, for instance.  That's fine -- we don't all need to look like cookie cutters and we can all learn something from a diversity of styles.  [/quote]
