I agree what happened to this guy is absolutely horrible--but just wanted to point out that for many of these kids, they are both victims and perpetrators.  That's what happens in many rough neighborhoods around DC--lots of trauma in this population.[/quote]

Correct, there is no compassion for the instigators of this attack, I agree. They should be found and prosecuted. Yet if you purport to care about how to reduce crime, or if you even just want to understand it, then yeah, you are going to have to have something like compassion.  Meaning - you have to understand the actual causes and solutions, and not just stop at "it's the culture and lack of fathers!"  [/quote]
