Too bad the victim wasn't armed. Two or three of those kids getting dropped by their intended victim might change some minds about whether doing stuff like this is a good idea.
Yes, if only all potential victims would just arm themselves, this world would be a much safer place.
NP. No need to be dramatic. But PP is right - one of these days, these punks are going to go after the wrong person. It would actually be refreshing if that happened because that might be the most effective deterrent.
Kids get involved in violence because they have no hope. Shooting a few of them is not going to deter jack shit. You need to show compassion. Violence begets more violence.
The ones who "can't be deterred" are the ones who most need to be shot. I reserve my compassion for the victims of crime, not for the criminals, who deserve only swift and decisive justice.
I agree what happened to this guy is absolutely horrible--but just wanted to point out that for many of these kids, they are both victims and perpetrators. That's what happens in many rough neighborhoods around DC--lots of trauma in this population.
No. In this instance, they are 100% perpetrators, 0% victims. There can be no compassion for them with respect to this attack.
Correct, there is no compassion for the instigators of this attack, I agree. They should be found and prosecuted. Yet if you purport to care about how to reduce crime, or if you even just want to understand it, then yeah, you are going to have to have something like compassion. Meaning - you have to understand the actual causes and solutions, and not just stop at "it's the culture and lack of fathers!"
