I'm 33. This is no different than what it was when I was 16. Some kids are lying. Some kids are waiting but not advertising it. And some kids are more casual. This is nothing new
I don’t know if you’re right. My daughter’s therapist who is very well regarded in this area and has been seeing teens and their families for 25 years, thinks there has been a pretty big cultural shift. He does think the access to porn is a part of it, and all the pressure on girls to have “sexy” Instagram photos and that kind of thing. Particularly with oral sex, he says things have changed.
Swap Instagram for Facebook and that’s exactly what therapists said when I was in HS/college. There were kids who hooked up all the time like your son described. There were super conservative Christians who were waiting (and those who had every variation of porn star sex with the exception of PIV so they could remain technically a virgin.) There were lots of gender fluid kids before that was a thing. I’m sure boomers can tell crazy stories about Woodstock and your great grandparents have even crazier experiences from WWI or WWII. Pick up the Bible and read about Soddom and Gomorrah if you think there was an ancient period of sexual purity. All that to say, human sexuality is here to stay.
