I understand how this deal may make sense for FCV -- and by FCV, I mean Christian. I don't see what the St James gets out of this? Buying a club from 40ish miles away, whose membership will likely not make that trek. They just made some deal with DC United a couple of months ago and of course they've partnered with NCSL on futsal, etc. Seems like they are flailing around at anything and everything trying to get people in the door. Might be struggling a bit?
I don’t think there was any turnout for St James tryouts—by using the FCV name perhaps they can get more attention and better talent. Also- for some leagues if you keep a percentage of original team you keep your standing/designation and don’t come in as a “new” team and have to work yourself up from the bottom or scrounge to build Gotsoccer points to get in higher brackets of tournaments. If they were “st James” they would not get into these leagues/tournaments.
This is exactly why TSJ needed to buy an existing club.
