Considering that posters who "feel different" than me are making justifications for Khashoggi's murder, you are damn right that I suspect their motives. There are things that you can reasonably disagree about such as tax rates. Then there are things that aren't reasonable to disagree about such as whether journalists should be murdered and chopped into pieces. I would suggest that if you find yourself in the second group, being paid to have the position is better than the alternative explanations. If Khashoggi were here expressing his support for the execution of political opposition members, I would be attacking him for that view. I would definitely question his motives given his ties to the Royal Family. I would not, however, advocate for his murder or suggest that he deserved such a thing.
Literally no one in this thread advocated his murder. I don't think he should have been killed and I'm sorry for his children, both born and unborn. What people DID advocate is reducing the breathiness factor in its coverage that is getting more maudlin by the hour. Do you think it's out of line to point out that he was, in fact, a longtime regime loyalist? That he has in fact applauded the execution of political opposition members? That the "humble roots" thing is bullshit?
