It's a really crappy situation where it sometimes feels like the choice is between trying to choose the lesser of two incredibly awful traumas. I have no idea at what point you consider it a lost cause and divorce, particularly when what you really want is your spouse back. I hope, at the very least, that mutual empathy can at least give us a chance. But it's another thing that is easy to say and sometimes harder to practice.
