No one will remember anything that was said about McCain. All people will remember is a group of deranged stuffed shirts complaining about Trump. sad.
Not true. I watched the entire service and while the contrast between the two mean was clear it wasn’t because the speakers were dwelling on it. There was a line in his daughters speech and a couple of allusions in the Bush and Obama speech. What I heard were terrific eulogies to a true American hero who despite his enormous suffering at the hands of the Communists always saw the humanity in every person, forgave his captors, worked for reconciliation with the Vietnamese people and was a friend and staunch ally to political dissidents and political prisoners all over the world. He also understood that people of good conscience could disagree on policy but that complex problems could benefit from bipartisan solutions and was willing to work with Democrats on issues such as campaign finance reform and immigration reform and he insisted every congressional overseas trip he went on was bipartisan. He mentored both republican as well as Democratic senators and counted many close friends on both sides of the aisle. He admitted his mistakes and apologized for them. He believed that what made America exceptional in all human history was the ideals she espoused and for which people have marched, fought and died for. This is what makes this country great- that we are continually aspiring and working towards the vision the founders laid out in the Constitution. That is the source of our power and our prosperity. I suppose if you heard all that you could not help noticing the contrast with a very different type of leader but it is inaccurate to state the service was “about “ Trump. It was about a great patriot, hero and public servant. The contrast was just there.
