Who walks into an ice cream/coffee shop and doesn’t order anything but sits down and starts talking to a kid of an employee? He either has a huge crush on this young women and frequents the shop regularly to spend time with her or he is having an affair and has made a date with her while his wife is away that he has no intention of passing up even with the encounter with SIL. So he waits it out. Very suspicious and I would be on the phone to my sister right afterwards.
yeah, i know defense mechanisms kick in when in these weird situations (Home alone BIL happily dances in to the ice cream shop back door to talk to ice cream lady, sees SIL so sits somewhere else to wait it out talking to a young kid and ignoring SIL), but next time snap some photos, videos, and at least say HI, WHAT'S UP. Shake hands with the kid, introduce yourself.
