And here is an article from the Left-Leaning Washington Post, detailing how illegal immigration of teenagers from Central America has led to a major of resurgence of MS-13 in the United States. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/ms-13-gains-recruits-and-power-in-us-as-teens-surge-across-border/2017/06/16/aacea62a-3989-11e7-a058-ddbb23c75d82_story.html?utm_term=.044ec78d522d See a theme? Do you really want me to continue? Is your head still stuck in the sand???
I’d like to see Trump and ICE really go after MS-13 then rather than spending all their time raiding nurseries (I’ve yet to see evidence that these places are specific hotbeds for MS-13 like a PP claimed). There just doesn’t seem to be a coherent strategy if reducing gang violence is a big goal. MS-13 has been around since the 80s so I’m not sure how much of the leadership is actually illegal anymore.
I agree Trump should go after MS-13, and he is. I also happen to think he should go after all illegal aliens, and he is.
Priority should be MS13, not fruit pickers.
NP. They have been targeting gangs like MS13 for years. From what relatives who work in LEO have told me, they used to just ignore everyone else though and now they don't. So it looks like they're specifically targeting non criminals now but it's more that they just aren't ignoring them more. MS13 is still the priority. Also, they're everywhere when you know what to look for. I've seen MS13 gang signs near Ashburn high schools as well as in Reston.
+10000 It's about time. I'm frankly just amazed Illegal immigration enforcement is even a partisan issue. Democrats, you have lost your minds.
I'm amazed that Rs don't realize how Rs themselves are part of the problem. More illegal immigrants come from visa over stays than illegal border crossings. These folks who overstay their work visas aren't on the H1B high tech visas hired by the evil liberal tech companies. They are visa workers on H2As - used by farmers who vote mostly R, and H2Bs - used by Trump. So, if you want to curtail illegal immigration in this country, then you need to go after those business owners, many who are R, and stop having the government issue H2As and H2Bs. However, Trump increased the H2B visas by another 15K in his first few months in office. I guarantee you that some of those folks will end up overstaying their work visas.
I call complete BS on that. A big issue with the unsecured border is precisely that you have no idea who or how many are coming over, which is insane. And, even if overstaying legit visas IS a bigger contributor, why does that mean the border shouldn't be secured? At least with Visa overstayers, you have some degree of oversight over who and how many comes in. Third, I completely agree that we should "go after" business owners who employ illegal immigrants. But if an immigrant has papers to work, then he/she is not an illegal. That's the rub right? If you want to argue that less work visas should issued, *for whatever reason*, then at least we can debate that out on a policy level. Leaving the border open and insecured so that anyone can just come in? Insanity. Which is exactly how MS-13 is getting bigger and bigger. Zero, I mean zero oversight from federal immigration to weed out obvious criminals and gang members.
1. More illegal immigrants from visa overstays https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/visa-overstays-outnumber-illegal-border-crossings-trend-expected-continue-n730216 No one said we shouldn't secure our borders, but given that most of the illegal immigrants come not by crossing the border illegally, a billion dollar wall is not a good ROI 2. The immigrant becomes illegal because they overstay their visa. The only way they won't overstay their visas is if we don't have such visas because right now, those R farmers don't care about hiring illegal immigrants to pick fruit. 3. Again, why is Trump wasting money on fruit pickers rather than violent gang members.
